You can come to Healing Dreams to relax at our spa at any time ofyear. The word "SPA" means Salus per aquam, that is, health throughwater. We have many kinds water at Healing Dreams – fresh water fromthe mountain stream so fresh you can from the stream, the ocean and ournearby white sand beaches, rainwater which we for drinking and bathing,and our large hot tub for a good warming soak. We have put together -with Flinders Island Adventures - a wonderful package that will addother water adventures, as well as other means of relaxation andenjoyment.
3 Nights and 4 Days
Flinders Island Arrival – approx 2.15pm Friday
Your FlindersIsland adventure starts with an amazing scenic flight from Victoriaover countryside, Wilson's Promontory, Deal Island and the ruggedislands of the Kent Group, to the northern off-shore islands ofFlinders Island, we follow the mountain peaks of the drowned landbridge than once connected Tasmania to the Australian mainland.
If coming from Tasmania to Flinders Island your scenic flightincludes winging between Mt Barrow and Mt Arthur to cross the northeastcoast of Tasmania, when you see in the distance the shimmering peaks ofFlinders Strzelecki Range. As these get closer you become aware of the52 islands that make up the archipelago of the Furneaux Group.
Pick up by Healing Dreams Retreat, there will be a quick tour of thetownship of Whitemark then onto Trousers Point and your 5 staraccommodation of the Healing Dreams Retreat, which is nestled in themountain range and looks out across the beaches and islands.Accommodation is twin share, with breakfast and evening meals.
Once settled and refreshed with some delicious afternoon tea, youcan either ride the mountain bikes or walk down to Trousers Point Beachto walk the Fotheringate Bay to Trousers Point Beach ( one ofTasmania's 60 Great Short Walks).
Once back at the retreat you will have two hours where you canchoose to either rest or book a massage or soak in a hot tub/spa.
Dinner will be a 2 course gourmet meal using fresh organic producegrown in our certified organic gardens. After dinner you again canchoose to either have a massage or use the gym or lie back in the hottub/spa and watch the sparkling stars.
Walk Description: Fotheringate to Trousers Pt: Healing Dreams tobeach 30 min walk or 15 min bike ride. Fotheringate to Trouser Pt Walk50 min, easy walking around headland track and some rocks, views out tosea and islands.
For the early birds why not enjoy a bike ride to the Beach and anearly morning swim or take the 40 min Enchanted Way Walk in thegrounds of Healing Dreams and enjoy the rainforest and river walk.
8.30am Breakfast: fresh fruit and homemade muesli and home baked bread, juices and T2 Teas.
After breakfast you will have a choice of either:-
Because we want you to experience the manywonders of the island in ways you may not have thought of we havedecided to offer you a chance to paint your very own watercolorlandscape of the island. Our highly experienced local artist will takeyou to a special location where you will while away the hours absorbedin your creation. No experience necessary, and you will have somethingto take home! You will have a lovely picnic lunch to take with you.
Bush Wander – Walkers Lookout to Mt Leventhorpe Pass
Forthose keen to learn more about the wildlife of the island we have askedour experienced local resident Alan Reid to lead us on a nature wander.Alan is one of Australia's best known naturalists. Recognized by hispeers with the presentation of the Australian Natural HistoryMedallion, he is well known to the public through his ABC Radio segmentand through his work with the Gould League. You will have a lovelypicnic lunch to take with you.
Evening Cruise – Sunset at Franklin Sound
Back at HealingDreams in time to refresh and prepare for the 2 hour evening cruise onboard the 'Resolution Adventures' Catamaran where you will cruise theislands of the Franklin Sound. – You will enjoy the breathtaking sunsetover the mountains in the sea, and watch the famous shearwater birdsfly into feed their young. The cruise includes a glass of champagne anda platter of island produce. Back at Healing Dreams you will have alight supper and of course the hot tub/spa waiting for you! Some of youmay even have a massage booked!
Day 3 – The Docks Walk
After a healthy breakfast, you are looked after by Flinders IslandAdventures who will drive you to the Northern end of the island toThe Docks. A truly magical experience where you will be awed by therocky outcrops and lichen covered rocks and sandy white beaches andcoves as you walk from the base of Mt Killicrankie round the headlandand out up the wide sweeping beach of Killicrankie and onto the fishinghamlet itself.
You will have had time to hunt for the famous "KillicrankieDiamonds", actually white topaz, which are found in this area, and alsoenjoy a lazy picnic lunch. Once at the fishing hamlet you will benourished by some delicious afternoon tea.
The Docks Walking Description: 9km – part track, rock hopping and beach walking. 4-5 hrs.
During the evening you will sample a 3 course gourmet meal featuringthe produce of the island. After dinner why not enjoy the hot tub/spa,lay back and watch the sparkling stars as they dance around themountains. OR have a relaxing massage and let our trained therapistease those aching muscles!
Day 4 – Walkers Hill Lookout and home
For the Early Birds: why not head down for a swim or beach wanderbefore breakfast. OR if inclined make the most of the hot tub/spa, gym,sauna or wander over to the yurt for a short yoga session before youhead out.
After a hearty breakfast you will be collected and taken to the topof Walkers Lookout where you will be to visit the summit of Walker HillLookout (411m) for a magnificent 360 deg. View of Flinders andsurrounding islands on our return to Whitemark airport in time for yourdeparture.

Your hosts will be Dave & Kathleen Heap from Healing Dreams Retreat and Lindsay Luddington of Flinders Island Adventures, who has been conducting both sea and land tours here in the Furneaux Group for many years.
On the walking day with Flinders Island Adventures youwill be escorted by Hugh Mactier, a long term resident with wide bushwalking experience and a keen interest in the islands history, faunaand flora.
Healing Dreams Retreat offers first class amenities. It is wellappointed with luxury furnishings collected from around the world. Eachbedroom has its own private facilities, and private seating area, allrooms offering stunning views to the sea and the mountains.
The communal sitting room, dining room, interior gardenroom and outside deck areas are delightful and the extensive groundsoffer a 40 minute forest walk, and an opportunity to stroll though theseveral growing spaces all of which are certified organic and whichsupply the retreats kitchen. Facilities include massages, outdoor spa/hot tub, sauna, gym, and use of mountain bikes.
With Flinders Island Adventures will either be a 12 seater Urvan or Landcruiser.
The vessels used when visiting the islands is a 6 berth luxury catamaran.
October through to April allows besttime to visit Flinders Island. Days are long and usually sunny. Howeverthe weather can change and it is best to be prepared for varyingconditions. The islands are dry in Summer so a water bottle, lightboots, a windproof jacket and sunscreen are necessary.
All walks used in this tour aregraded Easy to Medium and short descriptions are given under each day.Each day's location allows for the walks to be extended should longerwalks be desired, conversely all walks are optional or can be shorterwhen preferred.
